Hamra - next to Bliss

As I was strolling Hamra street some nights ago, I came across these stairs, a recurrent undefined  architecture that got my attention back in 2005 (here, in Gemmayzé Street) and still interests and fascinates me. Except to being usually attached to the outer shell of a building, they remind me of Escher's Relativity Stairs going in all directions/ dimensions. While used in the city, this kind of stairs may also be found in villages since they help creating a sunny terrasse for every level.

Friday at the Duke of Wellington

The Duke of Wellington in the Mayflower Hotel - Hamra is the usual stop for early Friday night, even though we do not always get there early enough to have our preferred strategic spot: these two benches.

Meet University Of Assassyn - Member 45

It is already bizarre [meaning: why do you actually own this shirt man?] when someone decides to wear a T-shirt with the label: University Of Assassin Assassyn - Member 45 written all over its back surface, but when they decide to wear it on Easter Sunday Mass, that's just surreal

Another Gemmayze building destroyed

One after the other, traditional 3 arcades houses in Beirut are being destroyed and new skyscrapers are taking their place. There is something moving about this sight; I see it as the fall of a giant now so frail, and it saddens me.
